1. Share with the group a time when you were most excited to get a letter
2. Can you demonstrate for the group the kind of dance you do when you are excited to get a letter?

3. Allan talked about how we as followers of Christ are swimming against the currents of our culture. One of the ways we do that is by our being a community of people who are committed to one another. He talked about how we have an “opportunity to build something together.” How does our culture pull us away from community? How do you experience that current of our culture not only in terms of exterior forces (e.g. TV, technology, suburban life, etc.) but also in terms of how you have discovered those forces within yourself?
4. Allan shared the story about the drunken peasants who were arguing about who loved whom best. When the one peasant said he didn’t know what hurt the other peasant, the second peasant said, “If you don’t know what hurts me then how can you love me?” How does our life together in our small group and in our congregation need to change so that we can keep Jesus’ command to “love one another.” What do I need to do so that I am better able to love and be loved?
5. Paul says in v. 18: “Remember my chains.” Why does he say this? How does the reason why Paul says this teach us about what it means for us to share life together in community?

6. What are you most thankful for in this body of believers? If you were writing a letter to the church at Blacknall, whom would you mention by name? Might you consider writing a letter to them this week, complete with a stamp before the postage goes up?
